Hydrostatic drives consistently outperform standard gear drives in variable output speed applications. This is mainly because they can offer infinitely variable speed control, where gear transmissions are “locked in” to specific speed based on the size and number of gears. As a result, the power curve of gear drives has peaks and valleys, whereas the hydrostatic curve is smooth and continuous.
Hydrostatic drives can also offer fast response and can maintain precise speed, even under varying loads.
Precision-Controlled for Multiple Applications
These drives only stand to get better, as newer and more capable electronic controls take the helm. Because of the infinitely variable speed output of the drive, the precision of the system is only limited by the system that controls it. With proper management, exact outputs can be achieved and maintained, greatly improving the efficiency of any process.
Hydrostatic transmissions are typically used in off-road applications, such as the following:
Agriculture
Construction
Environment
Forestry
Handling
Mining
On-Rail
